This study centers around successful Dual Executive Leadership (DEL) in American theatre. The primary objectives of the research are to answer the following questions:

What is the prevalence of the Dual Executive Leadership structure in American Theatre and does it vary by budget size?

What can partners do to improve likelihood of success and reduce tension in a DEL? 
- 
Do managing directors and artistic directors have different expectations for each other’s jobs? 
- 
What role does the board and staff play in the success of DEL partnerships? 
The research offers a lens into how partners view each position and how success may be achieved. The study offers practical recommendations to promote success.
